    About ASAKUSA GUIDE CLUB

Asakusa Guide Club specializes in local tours and private guides based in the Yoshiwara area of Asakusa. We also offer hands-on workshops, such as a mini bonsai experience.

Our tours and private guides are available from early morning. In summer, we run early morning tours to avoid the heat, allowing you to explore comfortably. If you're staying in Asakusa, this is a great way to start your day. Our private guides also offer breakfast food tours in Tsukiji.

A unique feature of our club is that almost all tours can be combined with the Yoshiwara Tour. If you join another tour on the same day, you can take the Yoshiwara Tour for free! Don't miss this opportunity to explore more.

We also provide local restaurant recommendations based on years of experience. Whether you're looking for delicious food, great value, or hidden spots without English menus, we can guide you.

Experience Asakusa like a local with us!

  • Shin-YOSHIWARA Tour

If you are participating in another tour with our club on the same day, the tour will be free of charge.

    broken image

    About Shin-YOSHIWARA

The "Yoshiwara Red-Light District," officially recognized by the Tokugawa Shogunate, was established near Nihonbashi in 1617. After moving to its current location in Taito Ward in 1655, it became known as "Shin-Yoshiwara." Surrounded by high walls and a waterway called the "Ohabukuro Dōbu," Yoshiwara developed into a social hub that transcended class divisions. It became a place for interaction between samurai, merchants, and cultural figures. Many of the courtesans in Yoshiwara were highly educated, contributing to the development of Edo culture, including Kabuki and ukiyo-e. Yoshiwara hosted seasonal events and became a popular tourist attraction. While it continued to operate after the Meiji era, the practice was abolished in 1958 with the enforcement of the Anti-Prostitution Law, marking the end of the long history of the Yoshiwara pleasure district.
